MP Congress Protests Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar Over Electoral Roll Revision
Madhya Pradesh Congress workers hit the streets on Wednesday demanding action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The statewide agitation saw demonstrations across multiple districts.
In Gwalior, things got tense fast. Protesters broke through barricades near the collectorate and pushed towards the premises. In Indore, police pulled personnel from four police stations to keep order as Congress workers marched to the collectorate and raised slogans.
Ratlam saw its own drama. Workers carried an effigy of Gyanesh Kumar on a handcart and set it ablaze near Dalumodi Bazaar Square. Police tried to douse the fire, leading to a brief scuffle. Black balloons were released too.
These protests follow a bigger demonstration in Bhopal on September 28, led by state president Jitu Patwari. Water cannons were used there and several protesters were detained.
The Congress has been demanding Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, alleging irregularities and lack of transparency in the voter list revision process. The Election Commission, for its part, says its decisions are unanimous and taken in accordance with the law.
I think this issue is far from over. The party has already signalled wider protests beyond Madhya Pradesh, and the SIR exercise is turning into a major political flashpoint.

Datia Bypoll Countdown: Rajendra Bharti Awaits Court Verdict
Datia Assembly by-election is getting intense. Everyone is watching Delhi High Court. Former Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti is fighting a legal battle to overturn a conviction that got him disqualified. His political future is uncertain since the nomination deadline is almost here.
Congress leaders are stuck. They are waiting for a court order to see if Bharti can run or if they need a new candidate. BJP sees this contest as a big test of voter mood in Gwalior-Chambal region.
Datia By-election Update
Time is running out. If the court doesn't help soon, the party will have to rush to pick someone else. It's a tense time for people in Datia politics.

Congress protests in Madhya Pradesh over rejected nomination
Youth Congress workers held state-wide protests in Madhya Pradesh following the rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan's nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections. Demonstrations took place in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Morena, and Mandsaur, where protesters burned effigies of the Chief Election Commissioner.
Party leaders have submitted memorandums to the President of India through local district collectors, demanding a high-level investigation into the matter. The Congress party alleges that the nomination was rejected due to political pressure and has announced a series of protests to challenge the decision.

Election Commission to Update 30 Crore Voter ID Cards with Clear Photos
The Election Commission of India is conducting a nationwide drive to improve the accuracy of voter records. Following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, officials are addressing issues with approximately 30 crore voter ID cards that contained blurred, outdated, or missing photographs.
Key updates include:
- Clearer Identification: Voters will now have updated, color photographs on their EPIC cards.
- Accurate Addressing: The practice of using '00' for house numbers has been discontinued; accurate residential addresses will now be recorded.
- Duplicate Removal: Over 2.6 lakh duplicate voter IDs have been identified and removed using advanced analytical software.
- Strict Verification: The Commission is using the 'ASDD' (Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Deceased) category to clean the electoral rolls.
The Supreme Court has upheld the validity of the SIR process, confirming that the Election Commission may verify citizenship for electoral purposes. Voters are encouraged to ensure their details are correct to avoid future complications. For specific regional updates, citizens can check the latest electoral rolls for areas like New Delhi, Maharajganj, or Gwalior.
