Congress Turns SIR Protest Into Political Battle in MP
Congress workers in Madhya Pradesh are making their stand loud and clear. On Monday, thousands of party workers marched to the Chief Electoral Officer's office in Bhopal to protest the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The protest started as a focused objection. Now it has turned into a much bigger political fight. The party is openly questioning the credibility of the whole election process, taking direct aim at Election Commission.
Clearly, Congress is setting the tone early in Madhya Pradesh. The size of the march in Bhopal shows the party is serious about pushing back on this issue and making it count with voters.

Corruption Allegations Hit Madhya Pradesh Election Commission
A sting operation has uncovered a payment network within Madhya Pradesh Election Commission. Reports show that officials and brokers are asking for a 15% bribe to clear pending bills for election services in areas like Bhopal Madhya, Bhopal Uttar, and Bhopal Dakshina-pashchim.
Companies that provide election supplies, like videography, GPS trackers, and CCTV cameras, have seen long delays in getting paid. Investigations suggest that budget staff and private brokers are working together to get cash from these vendors. One broker was recorded saying that a 15% fee is required to get funds released. He promised a fast payment once the cash is handed over.
Payment issues and bribery
This situation forces vendors to either pay bribes or wait years for payment. These findings raise questions about how public money is handled during elections and whether the process remains clear and responsible.

Madhya Pradesh to use EVMs for all local polls in 2027
Madhya Pradesh will make changes to local elections. Officials confirmed that 2027 urban and rural civic body polls will use digital systems. Electronic Voting Machines will replace ballot papers for ward members and sarpanches for the first time.
New voting system
In 2022, elections used EVMs only for larger bodies like zilla parishads and janpad panchayats. Now, the state election commission is using this technology at every level. Training for poll officials across districts, including Bhopal Madhya, Bhopal Uttar, and Bhopal Dakshina-pashchim, has started to make sure the transition is smooth. This is a big step for the local voting process.

MP High Court Issues Notice to Election Commission Over Rajya Sabha Nomination Rejection
Legal trouble has started for recent Rajya Sabha biennial polls in Madhya Pradesh. High Court has issued a notice to Election Commission about rejecting nomination papers for Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan.
Justice B P Verma's bench also sent notices to three BJP members who won seats in June elections: Tarun Chug, Rajneesh Agrawal, and Mahesh Kewat. Court noted that the final decision on Natarajan's petition could affect their election status. Voters in Bhopal Uttar, Bhopal Madhya, and Bhopal Dakshina-pashchim should check their registration status regularly.
Election nomination details
Returning Officer rejected Natarajan's nomination on June 9. Official stated that she did not mention a pending criminal complaint in Telangana. Natarajan says she did not have to report it because the court had only sent a notice to ask for her side before taking any action. She tried to get help from Election Commission earlier but did not succeed. Court set the next hearing for September 11.

Congress to challenge Rajya Sabha nomination rejection in High Court
Senior Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan is moving to Madhya Pradesh High Court. She will challenge the rejection of her Rajya Sabha nomination. Natarajan says Election Commission's decision is legally wrong. Her team followed all rules. She believes claims of negligence within Congress are just a story to protect the poll body.
She noted that Form-26 does not require disclosing the pending case that the Returning Officer mentioned. Also, she alleged Election Commission used different rules for different people. Other candidates could fix their papers, but she couldn't. BJP dismissed this. They say it is just an internal party fight.
