Jharkhand electoral roll verification faces scrutiny
Jharkhand officials are making the voter list checking process stricter. This follows reports of fake documents and unusual requests to remove names. In Pakur, police filed cases against people accused of using false address papers to get on the voter list. A local digital service operator is also being checked for helping provide these papers.
Stricter rules for voter records
Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar visited Ahut to look at records after receiving complaints. At the same time, people raised concerns in Godda about many requests to delete voters at once. Reports show that many of these requests were aimed at members of a specific community. This led to an investigation into Booth No. 9 in Maheshtikri. Officials must now remove ineligible names while making sure that real voters do not lose their right to vote.

Jharkhand CEO orders FIRs over fake voter registration documents
Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar has ordered police to file FIRs against five people for using fake documents to join the voter list. The inquiry looked into Pakur assembly area, where officials found that people used fake residence certificates to change the voter rolls.
Voter list investigation
A Common Service Centre worker named Mohammad Salim was also involved in creating these fake certificates. While visiting the Santhal Pargana region, the official confirmed that caste certificates were given out against the rules. He has told district election officers to check all documents carefully to keep the ongoing voter list review accurate.
Election Commission has moved the last date for claims and objections to September 15. The final voter list is now set for October 19. Officials are checking complaints in Sahibganj, Godda, Dumka, and Deoghar to make sure the records are right.

Jharkhand election officials order FIRs over fake voter documents
Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar has ordered police to file cases against five people for using fake documents to join state voter lists. This follows an investigation into complaints from Barharwa block in the Pakur assembly area.
Strict verification measures
Officials found four people who supposedly submitted fake address proofs. They also identified a Common Service Centre operator accused of providing the false paperwork. The Chief Electoral Officer said strict checking is ongoing across the Santhal Pargana region, including Sahibganj, Godda, Dumka, and Deoghar districts.
Election Commission officials extended the deadline for filing claims and objections for the voter list revision to September 15. The final voter list will now be published on October 19.

Babulal Marandi Demands Central Probe Into Santhal Pargana Infiltration
Opposition leader Babulal Marandi sent a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He asked for help from the central government regarding reports of illegal infiltration in Santhal Pargana. He says foreign nationals are settling on tribal and government lands, which is causing population changes.
## Voter list concerns
Marandi pointed to a big jump in voter numbers between 2019 and 2024. He mentioned constituencies such as Pakur, Littipara, and Maheshpur. He claims people are using fake documents, like Aadhaar cards and birth certificates, to settle in these areas.
The BJP leader asked the Election Commission of India to review voter lists to check who is actually eligible to vote. He also asked for a deep investigation into groups creating fake documents. Finally, he wants better protection for tribal land rights under the Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act.

Jharkhand Election Office Probes Voter Data Discrepancies
Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar ordered an investigation into mistakes found in voter registration forms. Officials spotted odd details during checks in Dhanbad, Jamtara, and Pakur. Some forms listed birth dates for siblings that do not make sense. Other forms seem to have been changed to claim government benefits.
Verification and registration updates
Electoral Registration Officers are now checking all documents to keep voter lists accurate. Special camps are happening across the state. These camps help new voters sign up and help families list all their names at one polling station.
The date to submit claims and objections is now September 15. The final voter list is set to come out on October 19.

Election Commission removes gender data from suspect voter lists
Election Commission of India stopped showing the gender of voters labeled as suspicious during the Special Intensive Revision. This change makes it harder for observers to see how voter list updates affect women and left out groups.
Analysis by Sabar Institute in Jharkhand shows that women, Muslims, and SC/ST voters appear on these lists more often. In five assembly constituencies, including Rajmahal, Pakur, and Dumka, researchers found that almost 47.8 percent of flagged voters had names used only by women. By removing the gender column, the Commission has created a barrier to clarity.
Voter verification challenges
Supreme Court earlier ordered the Commission to give clear reasons for flagging or removing voters. Even so, the current practice hides important demographic details. This leaves many people trying to prove their citizenship at busy offices.
