Massive voter deletions reported in Delhi ahead of electoral roll revision
Delhi saw a large drop in the number of voters recently. Over 13 lakh names were removed from the electoral roll during the latest update phase. This level of removal is much higher than in past years. Many people living in Kalkaji have said their names are missing even though they voted in recent elections.
Data shows the voter list shrunk between January and June 2026. Officials call this a standard update to remove dead or duplicate entries. Still, the lack of clarity on why so many names were removed is worrying. Former Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi called the move very unusual. He said Election Commission should have given clear reasons for these large-scale removals.
Check your registration status
People should check if they are still registered on the official website. You can confirm your details through the Election Commission of India official website.

Delhi voter list errors spark concern after massive deletions
Delhi voter lists have shrunk, with 47.6 lakh names removed during the latest Special Intensive Revision. This loss is over 32 percent of the total list. Many citizens feel confused and frustrated. Voters across the city report errors, such as wrong ages or misspelled names, even after providing correct documents.
It is concerning that residents in Kalkaji and Trilokpuri see their ages reduced by a year or names changed without reason. Officials suggest these age errors might be fixed in the final rolls. Still, the current draft causes worry. If you see an error, file Form 8 to request a change.
Voter list updates
The process also affects people who have moved. Some voters in Timarpur and Malviya Nagar were deleted, even though they kept their registration. If your name is missing, you might need to register again. This creates confusion about how to declare your status. Check your details on the official portal to make sure you can still vote.

Voter Exclusion Concerns in Southeast Delhi
Nearly 7 lakh voters in Southeast Delhi might be left out of the upcoming draft electoral roll. This comes as the Special Intensive Revision exercise happens across the capital.
Data shows about 33% of the 1.45 crore registered voters in Delhi could be marked as uncollectible. This list includes people who have moved, are not available, or have passed away. Still, many residents in poor areas and migrant families have faced trouble getting their required documents together.
Affected areas and next steps
Districts like Tughlakabad, Okhla, Sangam Vihar, Jangpura, and Kalkaji are affected the most. If your name is missing, stay calm. You can file claims and objections starting August 24 when the draft roll is out. The final electoral roll will be published on October 27.
