Voters in Andhra Pradesh should know about the upcoming schedule. State Election Commission has set September 22 as the deadline to publish ward-wise voter lists for 29 urban local bodies. This is a very important step for the next civic elections.

Municipal body work

Officials are now working on 12 municipal corporations. These include Greater Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nellore, Kurnool, Kadapa, Tirupati, Anantapur, Eluru, Ongole, Chittoor, and Machilipatnam. This follows similar work finished in 58 other areas, like Vizianagaram.

State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha asked municipal commissioners to follow these dates. Voter lists form the base for the election process, which includes deciding on ward reservations and mayoral seats later. Check these lists to make sure your details are correct.

Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh is moving fast. Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav confirmed that booth-level officers are doing home visit campaigns for verification. This work makes sure voter lists stay accurate and cover eligible people. Now, nearly 55 percent of enumeration forms are digitised. The process started on June 15 and will end by July 14. Officials have distributed over 4.13 crore forms across the state.

Digitisation progress across districts

Krishna district is leading with a 69.26 percent digitisation rate. Other areas like Eluru, Chittoor, and Srikakulam are also making good progress. It's good to see records being updated so quickly.

Election officials in Andhra Pradesh are working fast. Booth level officers have given out over 4 crore enumeration forms to voters, but the digital entry is slow. Only 27.93% of these forms are digitised.

This slow pace is worrying for political parties and citizens. Data shows districts like Krishna, Eluru, and Srikakulam are doing better. However, areas like Visakhapatnam and Kurnool are struggling with less than 20% completion.

Voter List Progress

Only two weeks are left in the special intensive revision phase. Election Commission needs to speed up the work to make sure electoral rolls are accurate.
