Bengaluru voter list revision flags 47 lakh names
Nearly 47 lakh voters in Bengaluru are currently flagged as absent, shifted, dead, or duplicate after a special check of electoral rolls. This exercise covers about 45 percent of all voters in the city. Across Karnataka, more than 1.07 crore voters are being reviewed.
Voter list scrutiny
Political talk is growing since data shows many of these flagged voters are in areas held by the BJP. Bengaluru South has the most flagged entries, while Shivajinagar has the fewest. Leaders from major parties are worried about how these numbers might affect future voter turnout.
Election Commission will release draft electoral rolls on August 24. People have until September 23 to file claims or objections. Final rolls should be ready on October 27. Residents should check their status to make sure their names are still on the list.

Pune Municipal Corporation engages SHGs for faster voter roll revision
Voter list updates in Pune are picking up speed. Pune Municipal Corporation is adding women from local self-help groups to help with the work. Officials started this effort because the Special Intensive Revision campaign was only halfway finished.
Community support for voter lists
These women are working with Booth Level Officers to visit homes across the city. They are covering nine areas including Shivajinagar, Parvati, Hadapsar, Kasba Peth, Kothrud, Khadakwasla, Wadgaonsheri, Pune Cantonment, and Pune city. Each person gets 50 rupees for every application they check. This field work should be finished by August 8.

Pune primary schools adjust timings for voter list revision
Primary schools in Pune have a new schedule from July 1 until August 31, 2026. Classes will run from 7 am to 12.15 pm. This applies to both private and municipal schools in the city.
This change happened because of Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Voter List Revision Campaign. Many teachers have election duties in areas like Vadgaon Sheri, Shivajinagar, and Purandar. The new timing helps them handle these tasks without missing too much class time.
School Timing Update
It's a practical way to balance official duties and teaching. Parents should make sure kids reach school on time. Regular school hours should start again on September 1, 2026.

Mahesh Nagari Challenges Exclusion from NCUI Voter List
Pune-based Mahesh Nagari Multi-State Cooperative Credit Society Ltd. is questioning why its delegate was left off the final voter list for National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) elections. Managing Director Magaraj Mishrimal Rathi says the society followed all rules. They sent the board resolution and required documents well before the deadlines set by the Returning Officer.
Rathi was on the first list of delegates. However, his name was gone from the final list published on June 25. The society was still not included even after the Cooperative Election Authority allowed new resolutions and put out a supplementary list on July 1. Rathi has sent many emails to election authorities for answers. He hasn't received a response. It's frustrating when there is no clarity despite following all rules.
Voter list concerns in Pune
Getting accurate electoral rolls is a very important problem for voters in areas like Vadgaon Sheri, Shivajinagar, or Purandar.

Maharashtra School Bus Fares to Increase by 15 Percent
Parents in Maharashtra will pay more for school bus travel from the 2026-27 school year. School Bus Owners Association announced a 15 percent fare hike. They said this is required because the state government did not give them the money help they asked for.
High running costs caused this. Operators are dealing with more expensive diesel, higher staff pay, and costly repairs. Other costs like insurance, tolls, and fees also went up. The association feels bad about the extra cost for families. Still, they say the hike is very important to keep buses safe.
Reasons for fare increase
Several factors are making it hard for bus owners to keep prices low. These include:
- Higher diesel prices and fuel costs.
- Increased salaries for drivers and staff.
- Expensive maintenance for vehicles.
- Rising premiums for insurance and toll charges.
People from Vadgaon Sheri, Shivajinagar, and Purandar should keep an eye on local news.

Pune Metro Line 3 Nears Launch with Third-Rail Technology
Pune is getting a big update in public transport. Line 3, which connects Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar, will be the city's first metro corridor to use a 750V DC third-rail power system. Trains will get electricity from a rail on the ground instead of overhead wires. This looks cleaner and helps daily commuters get more reliable service.
This 23-kilometre route is a big change for people traveling between Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park and the city center. It uses digital signalling. This means trains can run more often and wait times will be shorter.
Faster Travel for Pune
Officials expect the trip between Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar to drop from 90 minutes to just 45. The project is in the final approval stage now. The first phase covers 13.3 kilometres from Maan to the R.K. Laxman Museum. It is a big step for travel in the region.
