Telangana SIR: Nearly 95 Lakh Voter Names May Be Deleted From Electoral Rolls
Telangana's voter list is about to see a big change. Around 95 lakh names could be removed by the time the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls finishes. Before this process started, the state had about 3.38 crore registered voters.
What happened in the draft rolls
Here is the breakdown:
- About 73.39 lakh voters did not submit enumeration forms. Those names have reportedly been dropped from the draft rolls.
- Notices were sent to 92.88 lakh voters asking them to prove their eligibility. So far, roughly 71.23 lakh of those people have shown they are still eligible.
After the SIR process ends, Telangana's total voter count is expected to fall to around 2.43 crore. Add fresh applications from new voters, and the final roll may settle at about 2.48 crore.
The deletions are not spread evenly. Here is where the biggest cuts are expected:
- Serilingampally at 3,29,828
- Quthbullapur at 2,76,924
- LB Nagar at 2,70,284
Large removals are expected across 28 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.
Voters in these areas should check their names in the draft rolls carefully. The final electoral roll under the SIR exercise is scheduled to be published on 9 November 2026.

Hyderabad Voter List Update: Digitisation Progress and Risks
Election Commission officials have finished digitizing voter lists during the special update process. While areas like Yadadri Bhuvanagiri finished over 94 percent of the work, Hyderabad district is behind with about 56 percent completed.
Voter verification and corrections
Many voters in Hyderabad might get notices soon to confirm their details. This happens because some family or personal info was entered wrongly during the 2002 update. If you get a notice, please submit valid ID documents to keep your name on the voter list. You might be removed if you do not provide the right proof.
Across Telangana, many records are still unverified because of people moving, duplicate entries, or records for people who have passed away. Specifically, Patancheru and Serilingampally have many duplicate entries. The Election Commission will release booth-wise draft voter lists on the 17th. After that, people have one month to file claims or objections.

BJP alleges electoral form fraud in Serilingampally
Marri Shashidhar Reddy, a leader from BJP, has raised concerns about the ongoing voter list review in Telangana. He says Booth Level Officers in the Serilingampally assembly area are uploading empty forms to the official app.
## Concerns about voter list accuracy
The complaint states that officials are scanning the backs of blank forms rather than recording voter details. This seems to be a way to show higher completion numbers to satisfy supervisors. The party has asked for an independent check and a digital audit. They also want strict action against those involved to keep the voter list accurate.

BJP demands probe into voter form irregularities in Serilingampally
Serious allegations have surfaced about how voter data is being handled digitally in the Serilingampally Assembly constituency. Marri Shashidhar Reddy, from BJP, claims that Booth Level Officers have been uploading blank forms to the official mobile app. This was seen in booths 575 to 580 in the Vivekananda Nagar division.
It is concerning that officials allegedly uploaded the back of forms to show higher completion numbers without adding real voter information. Party leaders have asked Chief Electoral Officer, C. Sudarshan Reddy, to do a random check of these booths. Reports say the officers involved admitted to this, noting they felt pressure from superiors to meet targets.

Election officials contact property owners to verify voter details
Election Commission officials in Cyberabad are contacting property owners to find former tenants. Many landlords say they have received calls to check if certain people still live at their properties. This effort helps deliver voter forms to eligible people.
Accuracy in voter records
Residents in the Serilingampally constituency noted that officials are asking for help to keep voter records correct. Some owners feel it would be faster if Booth Level Officers contacted tenants directly. Landlords often lose touch with tenants who moved out years ago. This makes it hard to give up-to-date information. Property owners are also asked to remind current tenants to submit required forms on time. This helps prevent names from being removed from voter lists.

Voter list revision in Hyderabad faces major hurdles
Concerns have emerged about voter lists in Greater Hyderabad. Officials warn that 35 lakh voters across three districts might be removed from the lists. This happened because booth-level officers made mistakes during the current Special Intensive Revision process. Although reports said forms were distributed, many people in places like Cantonment, Musheerabad, Sanathnagar, and Amberpet never received theirs.
Voter verification steps
Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy has checked the progress in Serilingampally. If you are a voter, please be aware. The draft voter list comes out on July 31. From August 1, teams will send notices to people whose details are flagged. You must answer these notices quickly. Just give a valid ID document, as asked by Election Commission of India, to your local election officer to keep your name on the list.
