Telangana Congress Leader Jagga Reddy Launches Hunger Strike Over Rahul Gandhi's Detention
TPCC working president T Jayaprakash Reddy, better known as Jagga Reddy, started a hunger strike at Ambedkar statue in Sangareddy on Wednesday night. He took this step after Rahul Gandhi was detained by Delhi police.
His wife Nirmala, who serves as DCC president, joined him. Several other Congress leaders were there too. The protest carried on through Thursday as well.
Jagga Reddy's allegations against ECI
Jagga Reddy made serious claims against Election Commission of India. He said BJP has manipulated the electoral system in states where it gained strength. He also said the party came to power at Centre three times with ECI's cooperation.
"This is not just a political fight of Congress. This is a political war to protect the voting rights of citizens," he said. He also alleged that the Election Commission is acting arbitrarily while running the SIR process.
Jagga Reddy made it clear the hunger strike will continue as long as Rahul Gandhi keeps fighting. He also demanded that Gyanesh Kumar should resign from Election Commission.

Jagga Reddy, Nirmala Begin Sit-In Protest in Sangareddy for Rahul Gandhi's Fight
Telangana PCC working president T Jagga Reddy and his wife Nirmala started a sit-in protest in Sangareddy on the night of 7 October 2026. They are backing Rahul Gandhi's nationwide protest that calls for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to step down.
The protest began at 10 PM near the Ambedkar statue by the old bus-stand. Party activists showed up and joined the couple right away. Reddy said the sit-in will go on as long as Rahul Gandhi continues his fight.
Reddy takes aim at the Election Commission
Reddy spoke freely about his concerns. He said that wherever BJP holds strong ground, the election system has been tweaked to benefit the party. He blamed the BJP's three straight wins at the Centre on Election Commission help. Rahul Gandhi has raised these same concerns many times before.
The Congress leader also pointed to the ongoing SIR process. He accused the commission of acting as it pleased. He said the public deserves clear answers about disputes over voter lists. Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi have both warned that efforts are underway to weaken voting rights.
Reddy condemned police action in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and other opposition leaders were stopped and detained there. He called this a fight far bigger than Congress politics. Protecting the voting rights of every Indian, he stressed, is what is at stake.
Local leaders pledge support
Nirmala, along with local party leaders and public representatives, pledged full support for the protest. Reddy asked people to voluntarily back Rahul Gandhi's struggle. He also demanded Gyanesh Kumar's immediate resignation.
First-person note: whether you agree with Congress or not, the question of voter list integrity and Election Commission accountability deserves open debate. Every Indian voter has a stake in this.

Nearly 29,000 Form-7 Applications Filed During Telangana SIR
Hyderabad: Around 29,000 Form-7 applications have come in during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana. Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharsan Reddy shared the numbers on Thursday.
28,753 applications seeking objections to proposed voter inclusions or deletion of existing entries were received so far. Hyderabad led with about 5,000 applications. Siddipet and Sangareddy districts came next.
What counts as a valid reason
Applicants must give a real reason for asking a deletion through Form-7. Death, permanent migration, or not living at the registered address are accepted grounds. Simple as that.
Bulk applications filed by political parties will get a detailed check and review before any action is taken. This seems like a sensible safeguard. Numbers can be padded easily during revision rounds.
Review the lists
CEO office will publish claims and objections on its website. Citizens can go through the lists and raise their own objections. Check the list. Speak up if your name is missing.

Telangana Congress Alleges Form-7 Deletion Bid Targeting 30 Members of a Muslim Family
Congress has said pre-printed Form-7 applications were used to seek deletion of around 30 members of a Muslim family from the electoral roll in Hyderabad's Musheerabad.
The complaint was dated October 1 and filed by Pulipati Rajesh Kumar, chairman of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee's Election Commission Coordination Committee, along with Mohd Wajid Hussain. It was sent to Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy.
Names in the complaint include Congress booth-level agent Shafuddin and about 30 members of his family. S Balachander, also called Balu, is also named. Congress describes him as a BJP booth-level agent for polling booth No. 210.
The main charge is simple. The party says the forms were printed in advance and not filled independently by the people listed as applicants. It wants the Election Commission to keep the original applications safe and check signatures, handwriting, dates, mobile numbers, EPIC details, and supporting papers.
Congress has also asked officials to record statements from the named applicants, check whether the forms share common formatting or handwriting, and verify the role of S Balachander. The complaint cites Election Commission guidelines saying the burden of proving a deletion reason falls on the applicant. It also warns that a false statement is punishable under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
Form-7 numbers during SIR in Telangana
Nearly 29,000 Form-7 applications have been filed during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision in the state. CEO C Sudharshan Reddy said 28,753 applications had come in so far, with around 5,000 from Hyderabad. Siddipet and Sangareddy districts followed next.
Form-7 is used to object to a proposed inclusion or to seek deletion of an existing entry from the electoral roll. Researchers and civil society groups in Telangana have now asked for stricter checks so that eligible voters are not removed without a proper process.

Telangana electoral roll revision: Ineligible voters face deletion
Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Telangana has led to finding many ineligible voters. Officials are holding hearings in different districts to check claims. So far, 51 voters were marked ineligible in Hyderabad, and the state-wide number is about 2,800.
Medchal-Malkajgiri reports the most deletions at 1,411. Other districts like Rangareddy, Sangareddy, and Peddapalli are also running similar checks. Authorities explained that voters who did not submit required documents to Electoral Registration Officers were marked as ineligible.
Details on missing names
If your name is not on the final list, which should be out on November 9, you can ask for a speaking order. This paper explains exactly why your name was removed. You have the right to appeal these decisions to the District Electoral Officer or the Chief Electoral Officer.

ECI begins deleting ineligible votes in Telangana
Election Commission of India has started removing ineligible votes from voter lists in Telangana. Reports show 2,800 votes are marked for deletion. Electoral registration officers are handling this process.
## Voter list updates
Officials are looking into 93 lakh flagged entries. So far, 80 lakh notices went out, but many voters still need more information. Most problems involve small spelling errors or age differences. It is worrying that higher authorities are not fully sure if proper written orders reached everyone losing their voting rights.
Medchal-Malkajgiri has the most deletions at 1,411. Similar actions are happening in districts like Rangareddy, Sangareddy, and Peddapalli. If you think your vote was removed by mistake, you can file an appeal with the District Collector or the Chief Electoral Officer.
