Madhusudan Padhi, Odisha State Election Commissioner, confirmed that three-tier Panchayat elections will happen in late March 2027. Voting will happen over five phases to help keep things smooth.

Rural voters will use paper ballots at 91,000 polling stations. Urban Local Body elections will follow within a month and use Electronic Voting Machines. This phase includes elections for municipal corporations in Sambalpur, Rourkela, and Puri.

Voter list updates

A statewide voter survey is planned from October 24 to November 7 to update the electoral rolls. The final voter list will be published by February 10, 2027.

Odisha is preparing for panchayat elections in March and April 2027. State Election Commissioner Madhusudan Padhi confirmed that voting will likely happen in five phases because there are many polling booths across the state. Official notifications will come after March 5, 2027, once the census process finishes.

Upcoming urban elections

Urban local body elections will happen shortly after the rural polls, usually 15 to 30 days later. This cycle covers municipal corporations in Rourkela, Sambalpur, and Puri.

State Election Commission has started a home visit survey to update voter lists. This helps fix errors like wrong house numbers and family members listed at different booths. A pilot survey is running in Bhubaneswar. The full rollout happens from October 26 to November 7, 2026. Please work with Booth Level Officers to keep your details correct.
