Bengaluru voter list revision sparks concern ahead of civic polls
Changes are coming to electoral rolls in Bengaluru. Recent revision work has left political leaders concerned about upcoming Greater Bengaluru Authority elections. There is a drop in eligible voters, falling from 1.03 crore in June to about 56.99 lakh now. Nearly 47 lakh voters were flagged, so many may need to register again to vote.
Concerns over voter counts
Leaders from BJP and Congress are worried. Some wards now have fewer than 10,000 voters, while others have over 20,000. This difference makes picking candidates hard. It is a problem for those planning to run for office. Although officials say boundaries are set based on population, residents in areas like Rajajinagar or Yelahanka see it differently.
If your name is missing, check updated polling stations. The number of stations increased to 60,923, which might have changed your serial number. D K Shivakumar asked the Election Commission for more time to handle claims and objections. Check your status before the final roll is published on October 27.

Bengaluru lags in electoral roll digitisation
Even though Bengaluru is the IT hub of India, it is lagging in digitizing voter registration forms. Data shows that only 34.29% of these forms have been processed in the Greater Bengaluru Authority region. This is a problem because the area has over 27 lakh cases involving missing, moved, deceased, or duplicate voters.
Improving electoral data processing
To fix this, the Chief Electoral Officer has sent four senior officers to watch progress across different assembly constituencies. These officials will clear delays and run quality checks on voter data. Rural areas are moving faster, but city hurdles like gated communities and apartment access are slowing down the work.
With only 17 days left in the revision, officials are working to finish collecting and digitizing forms for all voters in areas like Rajajinagar, Jayanagar, and Basavanagudi.

Karnataka Electoral Roll Revision Sparks Concern Among Muslim Voters
Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Karnataka has caused worry among Muslim community members. Many fear that simple mistakes or missing documents could lead to eligible voters being wrongly removed from the lists. This follows reports from other states where voters were left out.
Community groups and volunteers set up help desks across the state to help residents with the checking process. These teams show people how to fill out forms and get the required documents. Local volunteers and IT experts are working in areas like Fraser Town, Mahadevapura, R.T. Nagar, Rajajinagar, K.R. Puram, and Brunton Road.
Support for voter verification
A group from Karnataka Rajya Muslim Okkoota met Chief Electoral Officer to ask for clarity. They said the rules set by Supreme Court must be followed to stop random removals. Election Commission promised that no eligible voter will be removed. They said officials must follow strict rules during home visits.
Eligible voters should finish the checking process to make sure they can vote in coming elections. You can find more about the rules on Election Commission of India official website.
