CPM to launch state-wide campaign against political defections
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) has announced a massive state-wide campaign in Maharashtra to protest against the frequent switching of political parties by elected representatives. CPM state secretary Ajit Nawale stated that the culture of splitting parties through enticements or intimidation has weakened democratic institutions and caused public dissatisfaction.
The campaign will focus on public mobilization through protests and demonstrations to highlight the actions of defecting MLAs and MPs in regions like Nashik East, Nashik (central), and Nashik West. The party is also demanding fundamental changes to the election system to curb corruption and ensure institutional integrity.
The CPM has appealed to the residents of Maharashtra to participate in this campaign to protect democratic values and hold their representatives accountable.
