Independent Councillor Dies After Election Victory in Marwar
A tragedy occurred in Marwar Junction municipality, Pali. Abrar Khan, the independent councillor for Ward 7, passed away on Tuesday morning. He was 58.
Reports say Khan likely had a heart attack at home. His death creates a difficult situation for the 25-member local board. BJP and Congress both hold 11 seats, so the remaining independent votes are very important for forming the board.
Election status
Congress members stated that Khan was talking with them about his support. Even with this loss, officials confirmed the election for the municipality chairperson will happen on September 21. A bypoll for the empty ward will take place later.
