Young Mizo Association Demands Cleaner Voter Rolls
Young Mizo Association is pushing for a cleaner voter list in Mizoram. During the current Special Intensive Revision, the group met with officials in Mamit to make sure only genuine citizens are on the list. Local groups keeping watch on these processes is very important.
Protecting voter rights
Leaders from the group expressed concerns about shifting demographics and the need to protect the rights of local people. Mamit District Election Officer Lalnunfela Chawngthu confirmed that hearings will be held to check claims. With over 8 lakh voters currently on the draft lists, authorities have a big job ahead to finalize the records accurately.
