Dimple Yadav Demands Strict Action Against Officials Over SIR Voter List Concerns
Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh: Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav has asked for strict action against officials involved in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. She said her party had been pointing out voter list issues from the start.
Her comments came after an Indian Express report showed that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had objected at least 14 times over 10 months to decisions about the SIR exercise.
"The Samajwadi Party had been saying all along that there was rigging in the voter list and that votes were being deleted," Dimple Yadav said on Friday. She also mentioned that during the 2022 elections, Election Commission had sent a notice to SP national president asking for affidavits on voter-related complaints. The party gave affidavits for nearly 4,000 voters but never got a follow-up response, she added.
She held Election Commission, including Chief Election Commissioner, responsible for the whole process. "Strict action should be taken against all of them," she said.
Opposition parties unite against Election Commission
The issue has turned into a big political fight. Opposition parties including Congress, Samajwadi Party, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Left parties have intensified their attack on Election Commission over electoral clarity. Congress workers held protests across many states including Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Manipur.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi said that 13 crore voters have been deleted and insisted the proof is there for the whole country to see. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav went further and asked Chief Election Commissioner to step down.
BJP has dismissed the allegations as ways to shift focus from electoral defeats. NDA ally Chirag Paswan, however, asked Election Commission to clearly present its side to keep public trust.
Election Commission has said that all final decisions on the SIR process were taken unanimously with legal backing. It also said that internal technical notes are normal working practice in a multi-member body.

Protests in Mainpuri over missing names in voter list
Villagers in Mainpuri have staged protests following the release of the final voter list on June 10, 2026. Reports indicate that thousands of names are missing from the electoral rolls in Gram Panchayats including Ramnagar, Mudai, and Jakha.
Local officials stated that the discrepancies occurred due to issues with Aadhaar verification on the portal. To address these concerns, a voter list revision campaign will commence on June 25, 2026. Residents whose names were incorrectly removed are advised to contact local administrative offices to have their details verified and restored.

Villagers protest over voter list irregularities in Hussainpur
Residents of Hussainpur village in Mainpuri staged a protest at the tehsil office regarding alleged irregularities in the voter list. Villagers submitted a memorandum to the SDM, claiming that 250 eligible voters were removed from the list at the behest of the village head.
The protesters further alleged that names of 250 outsiders were added to the list, while applications from 200 local residents for new voter registration were ignored. The SDM has assured the villagers that a fair investigation will be conducted into these claims.
