Latehar

People in Latehar and Manika are worried after someone filed many requests to remove names from the voter list. These requests mostly target minority groups. This caused protests at Shaheed Chowk.

Official response

Deputy election officer Mary Markey said that 55 requests arrived so far. Most of these list reasons like death, permanent shifting, or being away. District election officer Sandip Kumar asked everyone to stay calm. He pointed out that filing a Form 7 does not mean a name is removed right away.

Authorities are checking complaints from places like Dhankara and Mahuadanr. Submitting fake information is a crime under the Representation of the People Act, 1950. This can lead to jail time or a fine. A magistrate is now watching the situation.

Lakhni Nagesia, a Booth Level Officer from Latehar, reached a big goal. She is the first in the district to finish the 100 percent distribution and entry of Enumeration Forms for the ongoing electoral roll revision.

Working at Booth No. 262 in the Mahuadanr block, Nagesia finished her work despite problems like poor internet in remote areas. Her hard work earned her a letter of appreciation from District Election Officer Sandip Kumar.

Upcoming election roll deadine

The state has little time left to finish this work. The deadline is July 29, so officials are pushing to finish data entry across all areas. Many spots are still behind schedule. The administration asks all voters to submit their forms soon to help create an accurate voter list.
