Kerala Election Commissioner Nominee Faces Backlash Over Alleged Political Ties
A political fight has started in Kerala over naming N Seshadrinathan as State Election Commissioner. KPCC General Secretary PM Niyas and other critics are worried about his possible ideological ties to Sangh Parivar.
Niyas asked the Chief Minister to stop the appointment. He thinks these ties could make the election body biased. This is a big worry for tasks like ward delimitation in Kozhikode North and Kozhikode South. Some people also pointed to his old social media posts and student politics.
Appointment Debate
State cabinet already sent the recommendation to Governor. Still, some people are against it. Minister KM Shaji defended the choice. He says government checked the candidate's qualifications and personal beliefs shouldn't stop someone from holding a constitutional office.
