Karad South

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is worried about the accuracy of voter lists. He says there are more than 56,000 duplicate entries in his area and nearby places. After looking closely at the lists, he found that some people were listed multiple times with different voter ID numbers.

Election petition details

Chavan spoke about his frustration in an interview. He pointed out that he lost the 2024 Assembly election even though his total vote count went up. He has filed an election petition in the Bombay High Court to fix these errors.

Chavan said that the Election Commission did not provide machine-readable data, which made his investigation hard and slow. He is now asking officials to clean up the voter lists during the Special Intensive Revision for constituencies like Karad North and Karad South.

Voters in Maharashtra can easily stay on the voter list during the current Special Intensive Revision. Chief Electoral Officer S Chockalingam explained that missing documents will not stop you from taking part. You just need to fill in your personal details and sign the enumeration form.

Updating your voter records

This process makes sure your name stays on the draft voter list. After the draft is published, you will get a notice to submit the documents allowed by Election Commission of India. Keep in mind, this drive is only for people already on the voter list as of June 18, 2026. Do not worry about mapping old records right now. Focus on giving your mobile number, Aadhar details, and parent names to secure your spot. For old data, people can check records for Karad North or Karad South to see how voter data was kept in the past.
