Manipur starts welfare enrolment drive for displaced families in Kakching
Manipur authorities started a special drive to help displaced families get into basic social welfare schemes. This started at Wangoo Tera High School in Kakching. Officials are registering eligible residents for old age, widow, and disability pensions. They are also handling unemployment allowances and support under Mission Vatsalya.
Government teams are reaching out to people in relief camps. They want to make sure people living outside camps also get benefits. This work will continue at KBM English School on July 6. It will finish at Tangjeng Khunjao Community Hall relief camp on July 7.
Support for displaced residents
About 60,000 people are living in camps right now, so this support is very important. Around 18,000 of these people are registered voters. Election Commission has made rules so they can keep their native constituency status while voting from where they are now. Special registration officers are on the ground to help with these details.
