Congress party members are disagreeing over the plan to appoint N Seshadrinathan as State Election Commissioner. KPCC general secretary P M Niyas asked Chief Minister V D Satheesan to stop the nomination process right away.

Niyas is worried because he says Seshadrinathan had ties to SFI and now has links with Sangh Parivar. He believes this appointment could hurt the next delimitation process. State Election Commissioner has a very important constitutional role and is a permanent member of the delimitation committee.

Appointment Controversy

Seshadrinathan is a judge at Irinjalakkuda Family Court. He says his judicial experience is enough. He has worked in different judicial roles for more than twenty years.

Party leaders are now being pushed to create a clear system to check future appointments. This will make sure new picks match party policies.
