Dimapur-i

Nagaland Baptist Church Council has shared an important appeal about the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Dr. Villo Naleo points out that while accurate rolls are very important, the process must not lead to eligible voters being left out.

Nagaland faces specific problems because of its traditional land systems and village communities. Strict rules for documents might hurt indigenous residents in areas like Dimapurii, Dimapur-i, and Kohima Town. The council warns that officials should not rush the house-to-house check at the cost of accuracy.

Points for voters and officials

• Administrative teams must work to stop voter exclusion.
• Booth Level Officers and village leaders have a duty to be honest.
• Families should remove names of deceased people to keep the list updated.
• Every citizen should stay alert to protect their right to vote.

A healthy democracy depends on participation and fairness, not just following technical rules. The council hopes this revision stays inclusive and clear for everyone.

Election Commission of India Secretary Binod Kumar recently visited Nagaland to check on the Special Intensive Revision 2026. Meetings happened in Dimapur and Chümoukedima on August 20 and 21 to make sure the voter list is correct.

Election preparations

During these sessions, officials talked about how Booth Level Officers verify data. Kumar pointed out that mapping areas well and finishing forms on time is very important for a clear election process. He also visited polling stations in Dimapur to see how things work on the ground.

District officials shared reports on how polling stations are organized and current public information campaigns. The main aim is to fix local problems fast so every eligible voter is listed correctly.

Nagaland is starting a new round of voter verification. Election Commission of India ordered a Special Intensive Revision of state electoral rolls. Starting August 16, booth level officers will visit homes across the state to verify details. This work helps make sure every eligible voter is on the list and removes names that do not belong. Residents in Dimapur-i, Dimapurii, and Dimapur-iii should check their details.

Voter verification steps

Officers will give out forms during these visits. Fill these out carefully to avoid registration problems. If you miss the home visit, you can still apply later using Form 6 during the claims and objections period. The draft roll is expected on September 20, and the final list will be out on November 22, 2026.
