Dantan

The Election Commission of India has engaged Odia interpreters to assist with voter list verification in four gram panchayats located in the Dantan and Mohanpur blocks of West Midnapore. This decision follows challenges faced by officials in processing enumeration forms submitted in the Odia script by local residents.

Many voters in these border areas have ancestral roots in Odisha and primarily communicate in Odia. The appointment of interpreters aims to ensure smooth interaction during the ongoing hearings for claims and objections regarding the draft voters list.
