SIR Hearings See Low Voter Turnout in Hyderabad Ahead of October 7 Deadline
Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Hyderabad is getting a slow response from voters. Most people who got notices are not showing up for their hearings, and election officials are getting worried as the October 7 deadline comes closer.
Booth Level Officers at Malakpet say voters in no-mapping and anomaly categories need to bring three to four types of supporting documents during verification. This is tough for many families, especially where there is a big age gap between generations or among siblings. Older records were written by hand, but the current system uses digital data, which makes matching details harder.
How verification works
The Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of Charminar Assembly Constituency confirmed that anomaly cases will be checked and approved by AEROs or EROs. In no-mapping cases, the software automatically sends submitted documents to District Election Officer for final verification.
Hyderabad DEO RV Karnan urged voters who received notices to not ignore them. He said Election Commission has set 12 different document requirements depending on the elector's date of birth, including documents about parents where needed. Attending hearings with the right papers is the only way to keep your name in the electoral rolls.

Voter Roll Drive Faces Setbacks in Telangana
The first day of the special campaign for electoral roll revision in Telangana was a letdown for many people. Booth Level Officers did not show up at their assigned stations, which left voters confused. In places like Kukatpally, schools did not allow booths because of Teachers Day events. Residents in Moosapet and Charminar also said there were no officials present.
Missing staff at voting stations
It is troubling that many polling stations were empty even though Election Commission gave clear instructions. CEO C. Sudharsan Reddy sent a memo to district election officers to make sure things go better during the remaining campaign days. With 3.5 lakh applications waiting in Hyderabad, it is very important that officials help voters during the next weekend drives.

Analysis of Hyderabad Electoral Roll Deletions
Election Commission data shows about 19.41 lakh voters were removed from the draft electoral roll in Hyderabad. About 40 percent of these people are Muslim, which changes the makeup of the voter list. The Election Commission says these names were removed because the voters are absent, have moved, passed away, or were listed twice.
Check your status if your name is missing. Voters in India should fill out Form 6 to get back on the list. People living abroad must use Form 6A. You have until September 16 to submit claims and objections. The final roll comes out on October 19.
Verification of Voter Status
The number of deletions in Hyderabad is high. The list dropped by 41 percent from the starting count, which is the highest rate for any district in Telangana. Check your status on the official portal to make sure you can vote in coming elections. This applies to people in areas like Charminar, Yakutpura, and Chandrayangutta.

Voters demand Aadhaar for electoral roll verification in Telangana
Voters in Telangana are concerned as the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls continues. Many citizens found their names missing from the draft lists and received notices to submit documents for checking. K Venkatesh, a former Congress in-charge for Charminar, asked the Election Commission to accept Aadhaar cards as a valid document for this process.
Registration Process Concerns
He argues that because Aadhaar is a standard government-issued ID, it should be enough for voter registration. He also pointed out the money problems for citizens who must pay around Rs 200 at MeeSeva centres for registration. He wants more accessible facilities to make sure eligible voters are included during this revision.

Telangana releases list of deleted voters
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharsan Reddy released the list of deleted voters. The data shows a big drop in voter rolls, with over 73 lakh names removed. Hyderabad district had the most removals, with more than 19 lakh voters taken off the list.
Voter list updates
Statewide, the total number of voters fell by over 21 percent since June 2026. Officials say people moving away is the main reason for these removals. Other reasons include deaths and voters who could not be found. Some names were removed because they appeared in more than one area.
If your name is not on the list, you can check your status on the Telangana CEO website. Eligible people can submit Form 6 during the upcoming period for claims and objections to get back on the voter list.

Hyderabad electoral roll revision extended to August 17
Election officials in Hyderabad delayed releasing the draft voter lists until August 17. This delay matches a new schedule for the special voter list update. Booth Level Officers will continue visiting homes to verify details until August 10 to improve accuracy.
So far, 57.56% of forms are online for the district. Officials found 9.9 lakh voters who are either away, moved, or dead. Political parties need to assign more Booth Level Agents to help. Right now, only 11,398 agents are working out of the 40,620 needed.
Changes to polling stations
Proposed updates to polling stations may remove 67 locations across 15 assembly constituencies. This includes areas like Malakpet, Musheerabad, and Charminar. You can follow updates at local help desks or use the Grievance Redressal Form if you have questions about your registration.
