BRS Demands Restoration of 95 Lakh Deleted Voters in Telangana
BRS leaders Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Errabelli Dayakar Rao have raised concern over a large voter list purge in Telangana. Speaking at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad, they said notices were sent to about 95 lakh voters in the state. Out of that, 73 lakh names were deleted in the first phase and another 21 lakh in the second phase. That is a big number, and citizens should pay close attention to this.
Palla, who represents Jangaon, said constituencies like Serilingampalli, Karimnagar and Patancheru have seen a sharp drop in registered voters. He said the deletions hit hardest in seats where BRS had won before. According to him, the removals were done in the name of catching dead persons, duplicate entries and address changes. But eligible voters got deleted too.
Spelling mistakes, surname mismatches and old record errors were enough to cancel someone's right to vote. That should not happen in a democracy, plain and simple. Errabelli Dayakar Rao called for a full inquiry led by a Supreme Court judge and asked for the facts to be made public.
The leaders also criticized Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, demanding his removal and an impartial investigation. They appealed to the Supreme Court to step in and asked the Congress government to make its stand on this clear. BRS has postponed its planned dharna at the Election Commission due to the festive season, but a bigger protest is likely soon. Reddy made it clear: the party will keep fighting until every deleted voter name is restored.
What BRS Leaders Said
The leaders raised several points during their press meet. Here is a quick summary of the main claims.
- Notices sent to 95 lakh voters across Telangana
- 73 lakh names removed in the first phase
- 21 lakh names removed in the second phase
- Deletions concentrated in constituencies where BRS had earlier won
- Minor errors like spelling mistakes and surname mismatches led to voter cancellations
- Court-led inquiry demanded, with facts to be made public
BRS also wants Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar removed and an independent investigation into the deletions. They have asked the Supreme Court to take note of the issue and the Congress government to state where it stands.
For now, the party has pushed back its planned protest at the Election Commission because of the festive season. But Reddy said the fight will continue until every wrongly deleted voter name is restored.

Hyderabad Voter List Update: Digitisation Progress and Risks
Election Commission officials have finished digitizing voter lists during the special update process. While areas like Yadadri Bhuvanagiri finished over 94 percent of the work, Hyderabad district is behind with about 56 percent completed.
Voter verification and corrections
Many voters in Hyderabad might get notices soon to confirm their details. This happens because some family or personal info was entered wrongly during the 2002 update. If you get a notice, please submit valid ID documents to keep your name on the voter list. You might be removed if you do not provide the right proof.
Across Telangana, many records are still unverified because of people moving, duplicate entries, or records for people who have passed away. Specifically, Patancheru and Serilingampally have many duplicate entries. The Election Commission will release booth-wise draft voter lists on the 17th. After that, people have one month to file claims or objections.

Patancheru MLA pushes for voter form submission
Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy has started a campaign to increase the number of Special Intensive Revision forms submitted. Only 55 per cent of voters have completed this process so far. This is a local concern. Many migrant workers in the area prefer keeping their votes in their home states rather than Patancheru.
Increasing voter list updates
To fix this, the MLA has sent out 30 autos with loudspeakers to reach every home. Staff are also visiting houses to help people submit their forms to Booth Level Officers. If you live in this area, please submit your required documents as soon as possible. Election Commission of India is currently removing duplicate names from the list. This work is very important to keep voter rolls accurate.

CEO Sudharshan Reddy reviews voter list revision in Patancheru and Ameenpur
Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy recently visited Patancheru and Ameenpur to check the current Special Intensive Revision of voter lists. It is important for officials to monitor these processes to keep records accurate. During his visit, the CEO reviewed how help-desks work. He also spoke with booth level officers, agents, and local residents. He wanted to hear about the problems they face on the ground.
Election Staff Operations
He directed the staff to work together better. The message was simple, as staff must finish the work before the new deadline. Collector Prateek Jain and other senior officials also joined to watch the progress. This is a busy time for election staff. This focus on efficiency is required for a smooth process.
