Neither My Name nor My Parents Name Exists in the Electoral Roll of Last SIR (2002-2006) - What Should I Do?

Election Commission of India (ECI) started home visit campaign for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 in 16 States and UTs. SIR Draft 2026 electoral rolls already have been released in six states. SIR schedule and form submission deadlines have been extended in some states, giving voters additional time to complete the process and verify their details.

As the people across the states are filling the forms, and Old SIR records are required to be filled in the enumeration form. Now, in many cases, the names of the person (who is filling enumeration form for self) or his parents name is missing from the old SIR electoral roll. In such cases, there are a few options to be included in the latest voter list as explained below.

What to Do if Your Name is Missing from the SIR 2026 Electoral Roll

Link Your Details with a Family Member

You can use details of a close family member in Part 2 of SIR Enumeration Form if they were in 2002 electoral roll.

Eligible family relations include:

  • Father
  • Mother
  • Spouse (particularly if you relocated to Belagavi after marriage)

If No match Found in 2002, you marked as unmapped

If no match is found for you or your immediate family in 2002 registry, your application will likely be marked as Unmapped.

Important: Being marked as Unmapped doesn't mean your name is gone from voting system forever. It just means your file needs a second check.

Official Notice from ERO after Draft Roll Published

Once the formal Draft Electoral Roll is published, the local Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will systematically issue official notices to all unmapped voters. This notice will formally request you to present evidence establishing your local eligibility.

Documents you may need

When you receive the notice, you can submit documents to prove that you are an ordinary resident and eligible to vote. These may include:

  • Identification Proof (such as an Aadhaar Card)
  • Valid Current Address Proof (Utility bills, rental agreements, etc.)
  • Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC), obtainable online or offline where applicable
  • Any supplementary identity documentation explicitly authorized by the Election Commission
