Kondotty

Election preparations face a hurdle as the Independent National Electoral Commission reports that 2027 general election funds have not yet arrived. With a statutory deadline of July 16, 2026, approaching, officials are concerned about potential delays in procuring essential technology like the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System. Residents in Kondotty are advised to check their registration status ahead of the polls.

Mohammed Haruna, a National Commissioner, highlighted that many election materials must be imported, requiring significant lead time. The commission is also planning a mock presidential election to ensure technology infrastructure is ready and reliable. As the nomination portal prepares to open, political parties are navigating internal disputes that could impact candidate lists for the upcoming polls.
